Day one in Guatemala City!
Lets start with the beginning of the journey -
The plane ride(s) were shorter then the lay-overs, almost... but not bad, no problems.
On the first ride - spokane to seattle - I sat across from a very devout catholic woman... very devout...she prayed the rosary the entire ride, kissed the pictures of her family and crossed herself several times.
On the second ride - seattle to L.A. - I sat in the only row with one free seat...except that the man next me wouldnt move into the free seat to give us both room. He choose to sit right next to me instead of the only free seat on the plane...weird.
On the third and final ride - I was the only gringa on the plane, sat in a row to my self and admired the lights of the Cali Coast, Mexico and Guatemala as we flew over... I was almost too excited to sleep!
CASA SAN JOSE - the guest house
I arrived here around 5:30 am Guatemala time, so 3:30 west coast time
I was given a tour and some papers and slept for the next 6 hours!
But this guest house is gorgeous... Open with plants hanging in every corner every floor is tiled with mosaics and the walls are panneled wood.
Almuerzo or Lunch was huge and incrediable - 3 courses - soup, then squash, rice, peas and tortillas and plan for dessert!
So far so great!
Adios!
home and away again...
