XELA

HOLA TODOS
The past few days have days have been good - lots of food and laughing and group meeting time.
We are almost done with orientation here in Xela (close to guate city...kinda) and start school next week!
We have been eating the best guatemalan food, beans, rice, chicken, huevos... basics but its great.
Meals are always multiple courses that start with soup and end with cafe or desert. It is so delecious. en serio. (the carrot soup today.... that could be the last thing i eat for life... muy rico y sabroso)

The group dymanics rock, we all have so many similariteis, and differents... ones that compliment eachotehr in great ways! We are from all over the country and many different schools as well as different levels of spanish.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One thing i love about this program is how right off the bat - day one we began to focus one the roots... on the things of most important when learning a language... the people and the culture.
i mean learning spanish is great alone but o understand more fully its roots, history and people is so vital and gives absolute life to the language AND to the facse of the peoeple you see and the food you eat.

Its been a moving few days already in the orientation work itself and in the convos with my roommates and friends on teh program.
so... so far so great. not yet homesick... sorry... and not yet really sick! and truely feel safe and content here.

I hope all is well with everyone at home and keep me posted please!

cuidate,
annie k

Hey brother, glad you're having a great time and that you're not breathing backwards.

School starts tomorrow - wish me luck!

I sent you a card at your Spokane address - hopefully your parents forwarded it to you. Tobias says F off and have a good trip.
