Hey there,
So the Municipal elections took place yesterday in Nicaragua - of course in regular fashion to Nica politics there is acuation of fraud which has led to some extreme violence here in Managua. So today when they announced the third and final counting of the vote people begin to sort of riot in the streets and two people were shot and killed today.
So our professors here are putting us on house arrest until the violence settles - this means we will bus back to our houses in the barrio, our in our neighborhood and stay there until things settle... that could mean we dont come back to the center for school or if it settles then we can, but we are supposed to let our parents know that incase the national news is covering this craziness, not to worry, and to know taht we are as safe as possible.
I feel safe so you should feel safe.
Peace and love...hopefully,
anita
p.s.
if you want you should look this crazyness up on the BBC website or a nicaraguan website... like envio or something its pretty interesting
if you do, for your reference the neighborhood i live in supports the FSLN, the current party in power and the party that won the municipal election.
home and away again...
